James is responsible for driving our Pensions business strategy as powered by our firm’s extensive data, modelling and technology skills. James is part of both the Digital Leadership team and the Pensions Leadership team. His role is to influence and lead on our digital vision and to drive real improvements in the ways that we deliver our services to our clients. 

Since joining Hymans in 2008 from an asset management firm, James has worked in a number of consulting and leadership roles within our digital teams. His passions lie in developing motivated and aligned teams - empowering others to explore and innovate new solutions that delight our clients and colleagues. 

His background as an investment and risk actuary also sees James consulting with several our clients on the application of IRM analytics to decision making, or on their own operating models (people and software working in tandem). He is occasionally known to dabble in data analysis and visualisation in RStudio – an area he has an under-developed passion for!
