In this quarter's RI News & Views, we discuss the Mansion House Compact from the perspective of impact investors. Although the Compact – a government initiative that will stimulate investment in high-growth companies – is likely to boost impact investing, we establish the investment principles that we believe are essential to avoid falling into the trap of ‘impact washing’.

We also reflect on the recent – sometimes contentious – proxy voting season, examining the measures asset owners can take to force better outcomes, from escalating the issue via engagement with the investment manager to potential divestment in the absence of satisfactory progress or change.
