2024 LGPS National Knowledge Assessment
25 Jul 2024
We're delighted to be launching our 2024 National Knowledge Assessment (NKA). The benchmark assessment will help you demonstrate that you're meeting the requirements of the Pensions Regulator's General Code of Practice, by ensuring you're assessing and reporting on the knowledge and skills of your Committee and Board members.
The assessment provides a unique insight into the knowledge levels of your key decision-makers and will help identify future training needs.
It will also provide your Fund with a benchmark of current knowledge levels against other LGPS funds' Committee and Boards and will be tracked against the 2022 NKA results. If you would like your Fund to participate, please register your interest below.
What's included?
By participating in the assessment, funds will receive:
- Their own Fund results report highlighting knowledge levels in 8 key areas
- Individual participant scores
- The ability to demonstrate they're assessing and reporting on knowledge and skills of Committee and Board members - as expected from the General Code
- Benchmarked Fund results against other LGPS funds and tracked against 2022 results
- Benchmarked engagement scores
- Our analysis of their results
- Recommended next steps for Committee and Board training plans
This assessment will provide key evidence and information to all participating LGPS funds on the management of their Fund.
Once the assessment has been completed and results gathered, we’ll share a national report with our analysis on the current UK-wide LGPS Committee and Board landscape, comparing it to previous NKA results.
Alignment with LOLA
We've developed the NKA 2024 to align closely with our LGPS online training academy (LOLA). This allows funds who use LOLA to easily direct Committee and Board members to modules covering the topics where gaps in knowledge exist, on an individual, tailored basis, saving officers time.
When will the assessment launch?
The assessment will launch mid-September and all LGPS funds will be invited to participate. The assessment will take 15-20 minutes to complete and will be an important step in helping the Fund understand where to focus future training requirements, and the LGPS as a whole.
If you have any questions regarding the assessment, or would like to discuss anything further, please get in touch.
