In this quarter's RI News & Views, we discuss how asset owners must hold their managers and providers accountable against the commitments they’ve made.  This is an essential element of stewardship. We touch on the mechanisms we put in place to achieve this, through helping our clients build engagement frameworks, and through our own Manager Engagement Programme.

We also reflect on voting choice which is becoming an increasingly powerful instrument in the stewardship toolkit amidst growing pressure from various stakeholders for voting decisions to reflect asset owners’ RI principles and priorities. Our ESG Snippets cover recent updates from the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the disclosure framework for companies and financial institutions to tackle climate change released by the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) and the push for social initiatives in the EU and UK.
