What is your role at Hymans Robertson? I am a Client Management Consultant within the Client Group.  My team focusses on setting the firm's client strategy and supporting client directors and teams to retain clients, develop client relationships, maintain profitability and ensure client satisfaction. I work with a number of different people across the firm and my role allows me to pull on the knowledge and skills I have developed in previous roles as an actuary and a new business consultant.

How long have you worked here?  I have been here for 11 years. I joined our Public Sector actuarial team as an actuarial trainee straight from university and spent just over 6 years with that team. After qualifying as an actuary, I joined our new business team as a New Business Consultant where I worked for 3 years. I spent a year on maternity leave and have been in my current role for just under a year.

What initially attracted you to working here? The people! It was clear from my very first interview that everyone was extremely friendly and professional. I was delighted when I was offered the role.  I felt that everyone I met demonstrated the Hymans Robertson values of Confident, Partnering, Straightforward and Friendly.

What is the best thing about your job? My role allows me to spend time with a large amount of people throughout the firm – people in different teams, at different levels and in different offices. I get a lot of exposure to the differing ways in which people approach their client relationships and learn a great deal from them. I also work with a wonderful team of people which means I enjoy coming into work every day!  

What’s great about working here? The range of opportunities open to us, as employees, is wonderful.  The company is very open to employees exploring different career paths, and diversifying their skill set. There is also a very inclusive and supportive team culture. It’s a great place to work – we work hard but play hard too!

​What would you say to someone who was thinking of applying to Hymans Robertson? Definitely go for it – it’s the best career decision I’ve made and that's why I’m still here after 11 years. There are great career opportunities, a busy social life and super people to work with every day.
