What are the benefits
Periskope can be used to help overcome behavioural biases such as groupthink by giving everyone in the group an equal chance to share their opinion, before being swayed by others. Differing opinions can be easily identified, prompting further discussion or exploration. The tool helps you to visualise risks and challenges on a heat map to identify the biggest issues quickly and prioritise discussions accordingly, allowing you to use your time efficiently. The interactive features, such as the voting functions, also work well in virtual settings leading to more engaging conversations and meetings.
How can you use Periskope?
Periskope was designed as a risk management tool to support ‘root and branch’ reviews of risk registers, as well as their ongoing management. However its flexibility and the value it can add in group decision making has led to its use across a variety of areas, such as:

How does it work?
Our facilitated workshops start with identifying the areas of a problem to be explored. Periskope then collates individual views on a number of questions, by voting on a visual heatmap.
Our risk management approach
Depending on your particular circumstances you can take two approaches with Periskope:
Our facilitated workshops provide a ‘root and branch’ review of risks. We start by identifying your objectives and then defining any risks that would hinder you from meeting your objectives. Individual views are then collated on the tool by voting on the impact and likelihood of each risk occurring, on a visual heatmap. This helps to reach an agreed view on how to prioritise and mitigate them.
You can also access your risk register on an ongoing basis via Periskope and download a copy of the full risk and controls log. Risk owners can update the risks for which they are responsible. The tool can be accessed any time, to track, monitor and progress actions between meetings. If you have undertaken a workshop, the risk register will be pre-populated with data from the workshop.
If a facilitated workshop isn’t required, the tool can simply be set up using the details of your existing risk register for ongoing risk management. An additional reporting feature allows you to access a report of the changes made to your risk register between two chosen dates, giving oversight of any progress or delays without having to get into the detail of the full risk register every time your board meets.
